When I began my journey at EN Engineering 20 years ago, our main goal was to provide superior customer service and build long-term, sustainable relationships. We achieved this by communicating honestly with our clients, team members, and all project stakeholders to ensure everyone understood the agreed schedule, costs, and deliverables. Today, we maintain the same goal, because it\u2019s clear that the success and phenomenal growth we have achieved throughout the past 20 years is a result of sticking closely to this guiding principle.<\/span><\/p>\n One way we ensure we maintain this consistency as we grow is by embracing the Project Management Institute\u2019s Project Lifecycle, which consists of Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitor & Control, and Closeout. Our process has been simplified and all the project managers are now trained on this proven approach, which helps drive consistency across all our offices. Additionally, we have embraced our ISO 9001 program to ensure quality is at the center of everything we do as we continuously improve. We have learned to utilize data to maintain our leadership position in the industry and ensure we always focus on the right areas for improvement. For those that know me well, that is why I always say, \u201cEN Engineering is the best engineering team in the industry!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Two decades of success\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n I like to think of EN Engineering as a family. It is a place where we come together as consultants, colleagues, and friends to embrace collaboration and act as an extension of our clients\u2019 teams. They say time flies when you\u2019re having fun. For me, the past 20 years have gone by quickly, working alongside a group of such passionate, hard-working professionals. That doesn\u2019t mean we haven\u2019t faced our fair share of challenges over the years. As our 20-year anniversary coincides with the ongoing global pandemic, it is important to realize we are all in this together. We will get through it. In our daily work life, it is important we follow appropriate Covid-19 protocols \u2013 including social distancing, wearing masks, and abiding by isolation rules when they are required. But this doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t connect on a deeper level by taking advantage of technology and networking with clients, friends, peers, and industry stakeholders. In fact, networking is more important than ever now. Rest assured, the EN Engineering team is still here, and always ready to talk and solve the most difficult problems. It is what professional consultants do. I highly encourage everyone to reach out to someone today that you haven\u2019t talked with in a while. Just check in with them, say hello, and ensure they are doing well.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2026And many more to come<\/b><\/p>\n In the decades to come, diversity will continue to be a very important part of everything we do, both internally and externally. A diversified team ensures we maintain different perspectives and challenge one another, which ultimately leads to the best solutions for our clients. Throughout the years, we have partnered with a variety of firms to ensure we give back to the communities in which we operate. Additionally, we offer team members an array of opportunities to advance in their careers. EN Engineering will continue to grow and offer our team members opportunities to improve their skills while working on some of the most interesting projects in the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n Be humble, hungry, and smart\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n In Patrick M. Lencioni\u2019s excellent book, <\/span>The Ideal Team Player<\/span><\/i>, which summarizes how to drive collaboration and ensure that a team is performing at the highest level possible, I learned the valuable concept of being \u201chumble, hungry, and smart.\u201d Overall, people who embody these three characteristics work together in the most productive way for their clients. People that are \u2018humble\u2019 focus on the success of the team rather than their personal interests. People that are \u2018hungry\u2019 are driven to seek more work and responsibility. And people that are \u2018smart\u2019 possess common sense when it comes to dealing with people\u2014they understand where others are coming from.
